The 12th picture of Christ - Boaz Ruth 2:1. When we glean the information given us here about Boaz we discover a wonderful type of our Saviour. He was the neglected redeemer. Boaz could have helped Naomi and Elimelech and his sons, in the their time of distress but he was neglected, never approached or asked for help. They went to Moab instead of seeking his help and encountered greater misery and increased poverty there. Now that she is back in Bethlehem, it is clear that Naomi has still forgotten that Boaz was God's means of help in their time of need. How like the Saviour, God's appointed means of help for poor sinners. 'How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him,' Hebs 2:3.
