"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out," John 6:37. This chapter is one full of the grace and love of God. Here is found profound wisdom articulated in the simplest of terminology, verses 35, 44, 47, 54, 63 and, of course, our text. Though these words are shining with divine mercy, yet man reacts against them. Verse 66 says: "From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him." Only those whose hearts were subject to the divine grace mentioned in verses 44 and 65 reacted differently. Peter spoke for such. "Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life," verses 67-68. Man truly is a spiritual corpse! His inclination is to go from Christ, verse 66 but grace works a very different inclination within its subject.
