Advice is offered to two different types of young persons. One is self-willed, wayward and determined to go his own way. He is addressed in 11:9. The other is compliant and biddable and willing to heed advice. To such the advice contained in our text is given. Man is a forgetter of God and this has been a source of God's anger on many occasions. Such forgetting of God will increase as the years go by until there will come a day when the light of the knowledge of God will have almost disappeared from the earth. "Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:8. I would wish to have you, the young of this congregation, avoid at all costs a forgetting of God for the price for such is high indeed. "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God," Psalm 9:17.
