The 11th picture of Christ Gideon and his likeness to Christ. We can find glimpses of the person, work, purpose and victory our Saviour in the lives of many of those believers we encounter in the Bible. Gideon is just one such person. We are going to consider the climax of Gideon's life - his battle with the Midianites. Read Judges 7:16-23. The apparently weak weapons Gideon employed. Paul said: "(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)" 2 Corinthians 10:4. The Lord Jesus has triumphed over millions, not using the world's weapons but heavens! 1. Few men. How few were sent out by the Saviour to evangelise the world. 2. The Trumpet. Likely a ram's horn. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God, that is here pictured. 1 Cor 1:17-29. 3. The pitcher. The light of the believer's testimony. Pro 4:18, Matt 5:14, John 5:35, Php 2:15, 1 Thess 5:5. 4. The shout. A clear testifying that the battle is the Lord's, 1 Sam 17:47 - David's words to Goliath.
