"PICTURES OF CHRIST" At the beginning of the September 2015 school year, Rev Foster was asked to conduct two morning assembly meetings each week. He took as his theme - "Pictures of Christ" in the Bible. He has taken up that theme again this year. Read Joshua 14:6-15. We continue with our tenth picture of Christ, as seen in THE LIFE OF JOSHUA. Last week we considered how we, like Israel, fail to enter into all the benefits of redemption because of unbelief and disobedience. These failures were a curse to Israel all their days! Moses had warned the. "But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell," Numbers 33:55. Joshua's warning. " . . . if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: know for a certainty that . . . . they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you," Joshua 23:11-13. Things would have been a lot worse were it not for Joshua. We are led in our fight by our 'Joshua', the Lord Jesus. "Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression," Psalm 19:13-14. The Lord Jesus keeps us from being ruled over by sin. "My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart," Psa 7:10
