THE FRUITS OF CALVARY ENJOYED BY CHRIST Isaiah 53:10-12. * It pays to obey, honour and comply with the will of God. Nowhere is that more clearly demonstrated than in the experience of our Saviour, the God-Man, Jesus Christ. Php 2:5-11. The Lord Jesus willingly laid aside as it were his glory for a while, to have it veiled and hid, and be reckoned a mere man, yea, to be said to have a devil, and not be God! * This obedience was in order to fulfil His Father's will and accomplish, through His death at Calvary, the redemption of His elect. * When He said "It is finished," John 19:30, He was referring to the making of an atonement for the sins of His people, that is, the whole will of God. This comprised that He should be incarnate, be exposed to shame and reproach, and suffer much, and die. This was the work his Father gave him to do and He obtained thus eternal salvation for his people, redemption from sin's curse and condemnation secured, full atonement and satisfaction for it were given; complete pardon procured, peace made, and redemption from all iniquity obtained; all enemies were conquered and all types, promises, and prophecies were fulfilled. * It was done entirely without the help of man, and cannot be undone. All of which has been clearly evidenced by Christ's resurrection from the dead and His ascension to glory at His Father's right hand. "Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear," Acts 2:33. In our text we see the fruits of Christ's obedience detailed.
