Christian Education - an integral part of the work of the Church
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, " Deuteronomy 6:4-7.
(Preached in Kilskeery FPC)
We are drawing near to the end of the 36th year of Kilskeery Independent Christian School.
I would like tonight to say a few things regarding Christian education. My text consists of some of the words in Deut 6:4-7.
* These are amongst the most memorable word in the Bible. They carry with them a most solemn obligation that none who read them can fail to notice!
* They show the first and primary obligation of every person. What is here addressed to Israel of old is, in this gospel age when the elect amongst the Gentiles are being gathered in, addressed to every Christian.
* Parents are also addressed. Particularly they are given their paramount, their supreme duty toward their children. It is to teach them "these words" which God records for us here.
