Cheering words amidst stormy wavesRev. Ivan FosterActs 27:25 · Sunday ServiceSun Apr 6, 2003
How different was Paul's adventures at sea from those of Jonah the prophet! Jonah was out of the will of God and running away while Paul was very much in the will of God and going to where the Lord would have him to be. "And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome," Acts 23:11. Jonah was a source of danger to his fellow passengers while Paul was a source of deliverance. He announced deliverance to his fellow voyagers in cheering words.
