The Power of the Gospel when Preached in the Spirit "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him," Isaiah 59:19. The Lord Jesus is able both to make His kingdom advance in the face of the enemy's opposition and to defend it against the enemy's attack. It is this latter truth we wish to consider for it is a matter of great significance to both the saint and the sinner. Christ's power to keep His people strengthens His people in the hour of trial. It also encourages faith in those who have yet to trust Him for salvation. He is able "to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them," Hebrews 7:25.
