Jesus of Nazareth Passeth By. "And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by," Luke 18:37. (Final meeting of Ballinamallard Mission) How often these words would have been spoken during the Saviour's three-year ministry amongst men! He travelled the land extensively during that sacred time. "And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth," Mark 1:38. There were some places that the Saviour visited many times but only once do you read of Him passing though Jericho. Some heard the Saviour preach many times but others only once. These same observations can be made today. The Saviour still passeth by whenever the Bible is opened and the gospel preached. There is His presence and His power to save. Some may hear the gospel many times while others only once. He has been with us here in this gospel mission. How do I know? "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them," Matthew 18:20. There is a heavy price to be paid for the neglecting and despising of great privileges. "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee," Matthew 11:23-24. The simple statement in our text teaches us important truth.
