Pictures of Christ 14. Solomon. The difference between those aspects of the Saviour that David and Solomon set forth may be stated simply: - David set forth Christ in His HUMILITY while Solomon speaks to us of His GLORY. 4. The nations sought to hear the wisdom of Solomon "And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment," 1 Kings 3:28. Read 1 Kings 4:30-34. "And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. . . . . And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard. Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice," 1 Kings 10:1, 6-9. David's psalms, full of the wisdom of God were not so recognised as David pictures for Christ in His humiliation. In the days of Christ's reign His wisdom will be recognised by the nations. What a privilege you children all have to sit under the words of Christ today. Read Isaiah 2:2-3, 11:9 and Zechariah 8:22-23 for details of the recognising of the wisdom of the Saviour in the days of His reign on this earth.
