The danger of murmuring, Pt 3 (Preached by Rev Ivan Foster at Kilskeery FP Youth Fellowship) "And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration," Acts 6:1. Here are the final points in this final message.. II. EVEN AMONGST THE BEST OF PEOPLE PREJUDICES MAY BE FOUND These experienced blessing that few others have ever known and yet what a mean spirit is evident here! 1. How quickly grace may be lost. Cp. Acts 2:44-47. 2. We must guard ourselves. We must be aware of the character of the sin. Matt 15:19-20; Gal 5:19-21. "Which do such" = "To practice", that who lives to follow such sins. 3. Victory may be gained over such sins. The believer must seek to crucify these evil impulses of the old nature. Rom 8:13, Eph 2:1-6; Gal 2:20, 5:24, 6:14. III. WHEN SUCH MATTERS ARE CORRECTLY HANDLED, DAMAGE IS LIMITED, CAN BE REPAIRED AND THE HOLY WORK CONTINUES Lisbellaw April 1968 illustrates this! God gave wisdom and a serious breach was repaired. I have never spoken in detail of this incident since it took place of 49 years ago. 1. I believe that they who fomented the trouble thought that they acted for God's glory and honour. They had a desire for God to bless in Fermanagh. 2. I believe they thought that they acted wisely. But they followed their own notions. 3. I believe that they failed to note God's blessing on the work. They were blinded by their own ambitions. However, right discipline mercifully got the work back on track!
