LIARS -- patron, persuasiveness & punishmentDanger of liesRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMRevelation 21:8 · Sun Feb 27, 2005
When Moses saw something of the glory of God upon the mountain, he not only had the revelation of God's glory presented to his eyes but also to his ears for the Lord said of Himself as He passed by Moses: "The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation," Exodus 34:6-7. The Lord is the "Captain" of truth for the word "abundant" carries that meaning. "For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth," Psalm 33:4. He cannot lie, Titus 1:2; Heb 6:18. The ungodliness of this age is seen in its untruthfulness and the general acceptance of lying. Our political world is filled with examples as is the business world, social relationships and above all the religious world. We would issue a warning about lying tonight. It is not the inconsequential matter that it is made out to be.
