The danger of murmuring, Pt 2 (Preached by Rev Ivan Foster at Kilskeery FP Youth Fellowship) "And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration," Acts 6:1. As we said last time, we can see parallels between the days of Pentecost and the days at the end of the age. Matt 24:12, 'Abound' same word as 'was multiplied'. Age began with the abounding of converts but will end with the multiplying of sinfulness! Note what our text says. I. EVEN IN THE VERY BEST OF CHURCHES SIN WILL BE FOUND This was already seen in the incident with Ananias, with Sapphira, 5:1-11. That judgment was not heeded by all. 1. Division is the devil's desire. This indicates how desirable unity is. Ps 133:1; Eps 4:3, 13. God's purpose is perfect unity! 2. Disunity springs from the basest of desires. There was a perception that one set of widows was getting more than another. Perfectly understandable reasons could explain this! One set of widows were likely to be visitors and the others residents in the city! One readily can see how one set would be readily recognised and the other not and thereby overlooked. And yet the work of God was jeopardised because of this! We should ever be ready to see the other point of view! 3. How different is the spirit we should manifest. "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Philippians 4:11. Our blessed model, 2 Corinthians 8:9. TO BE CONTINUED.
