Ignoring/visible & Investigating/invisibleRev. Ivan Foster2 Corinthians 4:18Sun Feb 22, 2004 · Sunday - PM
The destination that we should keep before our eyes as we pass through this world is often set before the readers of the Bible. "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God," Hebrews 12:2. The saints of God from the most ancient times have followed this rule, John 8:56. Our text sets forth this matter very plainly. We are told here in a negative fashion what it is we should keep our eyes upon. "We look not at the things which are seen." It must be important to note what we are not to look at or consider if it is set before us first of all! The visible world can distract us, blind us, deceive us into forgetting the vital truth of all truths. Positively, we must look "at the things which are not seen." We must travel through this world guide by the eyes of our soul, the vision given us by faith.
