A great evangelist's mournful lamentRev. Ivan FosterIsaiah 53:1 · Sunday - PMSun Jan 4, 2004
The ministry of Isaiah was very much taken up with the person and passion of Christ. The verse 13 of the previous chapter foreshadowed the cry of John the Baptist. Out text is directly quoted by Christ in John 12:38 and by Paul in Rom 10:16 with reference to man's unbelief. Unbelief is a distressing, heart-breaking force with which the servant of God must contend amongst those to whom he preaches. Unbelief turns the preacher from preaching to praying and lamenting. This is his only relief from the grief that unbelief amongst his hearers arouses.
