Since the beginning of the new school year in September 2015, Rev Foster has been asked to speak at two morning assembly meetings each week. His theme for 2015-16 is DV, "Pictures of Christ in the Bible." Fifth Picture of Christ Genesis 22:1-14 We see the judgment for sin that Christ faced. "And Abraham . . . . took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together," Genesis 22:6. * The fire and the knife in the hand of Abraham symbolised the instruments of death and suffering that Christ was to face at Calvary. "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many," Hebrews 9:28. "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities," Isaiah 53:10-11. * Please note the little phrase in Genesis 22:6. " . . . and they went both of them together." Does this not again show the submissiveness of the Saviour and the unity of purpose between the Father and the Son regarding the cross? Jesus said just before the cross: "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour," John 12:27. Christ never thought of trying to avoid the cross. Here is the harmony of the mind and will of the Father and the Son.
