Soldier happy to be in troubled landRev. Ivan FosterLuke 7:1-10 · Sunday - PMSun Apr 9, 1989
The soldier who was glad he had been posted to a troubled land Luke 7:1-10. (Preached by Rev Ivan Foster in Kilskeery FPC, at the evening service on Lord's Day 8th April, 1989.) The grace of God is very often found in the most unusual places. A son of Pagan Rome is an unlikely example of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and an officer in the legions of Rome an unlikely paragon of humility and gentle affection! Yet it is so. It has been said that the best gold comes from the darkest mines and the purest pearls from the deepest oceans. This man is written up in the Bible because of his faith in Christ. If we have not saving faith in Christ then there will be no mention of our name in the Lamb's Book of Life. If you would be written up with the redeemed, learn from this man whose name we do not know.
