Three things ecumenists should rememberRossory ecumenical gatheringRev. Ivan Foster · Sun Jan 23, 20052 Corinthians 6:14-18 · Sunday - PM
Anyone who has a knowledge of the history of those dark days through which our spiritual forefathers passed as they struggled to be free of the deceits and tyrannies of Rome, and who have kept themselves informed about the latest developments within the world of ecumenism and the great religious apostasy and its progress toward a universal rejection of the Bible and the God of the Bible, will discern that the same spirit is at work today. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was started many years ago as a means of enticing foolish Protestants back into the fold of Rome. Today, its success may be seen all around us. Despite the warnings of God's Word, of the voices of our forefathers from the pages of history, from the silent memorials which stand throughout this kingdom to those whom Rome done to death for their adherence to Christ, and the present-day warnings of providence, seen in the terror campaign of Roman Catholic murderers here in Ulster -- as to the unchanging nature of Rome -- blinded Protestants meekly obey their blinded spiritual leaders and unprotestingly file into the death chamber of Roman Catholicism's false system of religion. Only the truth can set the sinner eternally free. Error and false teaching lead to everlasting death. That is the destiny to which ecumenism will take its adherents. The means of promoting this objective is not hard to unravel for anyone with the grasp of faith upon the Word of God. Tonight I wish to set out some simple truths.
