"But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: a land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year," Deuteronomy 11:11-12. Nature is a great instructor. The Lord freely makes use of its services to set forth the glories of His mercy and love, and the pleasures that belong to those that are numbered amongst His people. Here He contrasts the methods of irrigation used in Egypt and the land of Israel as a means of demonstrating the superiority of the providential provisions that the people of God enjoy in comparison to the worldling. Egypt was a land where man-made irrigation systems must be employed, verse 10. Whereas, Israel was a land watered by the Lord from heaven. Here we have the contrast between the saved man and the unsaved man. The unsaved man must labour for his own comforts while the saved man is ministered to by the Lord. I. GOD'S EYES REST CARINGLY UPON A CERTAIN PLACE. II. THIS CARE SPRINGS FROM GOD'S LOVE. III. GOD'S EYES NEVER LEAVE HIS PEOPLE.
