CS Lewis-safe guide/confused soul?Response to Narnia-maniaRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMColossians 2:8 · Sun Dec 18, 2005
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ," Colossians 2:8. Wherever a people are gathered around the Word of God and assembled in good order and steadfastness of faith, there will the devil attack. Such a people must beware or "look out" for those that would spoil them, or carry them off as captives. The means of spoiling Christians so loved by the devil, is the replacing of God's truth with his "philosophy" -- that which is married to "vain deceit". It is the minister's task to be aware of these threats and then to issue a warning against them. Paul issued a similar warning to the Ephesian church. "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience," Ephesians 5:6. The consequences of the devil successfully deceiving God's people is a loss of the blessing of Christ and a meeting with judgment. I wish to warn against the errors of CS Lewis. CS Lewis was a "vain philosopher." His witness does not provide a safe guide for I consider him a confused soul. Details of the theological errors of CS Lewis will be mounted in an article with the same title as this sermon on [www.ivanfoster.net] - just enter the title in the search box.
