Last week we began our study of these verses and we note that prolonged periods of prayer are often times required to obtain god’s blessing. This was not because the Lord is reluctant to answer prayer but it is because He must prepare us to make us ready for His answer. Our hearts, like a field, need to be broken in order to receive His blessing.

I. TO BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE GREATEST BLESSING WE MAY RECEIVE HERE ON EARTH!

To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with every blessing that Heaven can bestowed. (Dr Paisley’s words to me first time I met him, 12/4/1964).

II. THOSE WHO HAD FOLLOWED THE LORD WERE THOSE FOUND WAITING.

This was proof of their conversion!

“And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren,” Acts 1:13-14. This the proof of our conversion!

1. They all gathered in the famous ‘upper room’. It was where they had eaten the Passover with the Lord, Mark 14:15. 

2. It was where the Saviour had “breathed on them” and they had received the Holy Ghost.” John 20:22. 

Now they were back in that same room waiting for FULLNESS of the Holy Spirit.
