Waiting for the 'Promise of the Father' begins! Part 1KICS Studies - Analysing Acts · part 9 of 13Rev. Ivan Foster · YouthActs 1:12-26 · Tue Nov 4, 2025

The disciples were commanded of the Saviour to wait in Jerusalem. “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high,” Luke 24:49.

From the ascension of the Saviour until the Day of Pentecost, the fiftieth day after the Passover, was a period of ten days.

I. PROLONGED PERIODS OF PRAYER ARE OFTEN TIMES REQUIRED TO OBTAIN GOD’S BLESSING.

The time of waiting was a time of preparation.

1. A time in which the believers realised their inability to do anything for the Lord until empowered by Him.

2. It was a time of claiming the promised infilling of the Holy Spirit.

3. The Holy Spirit is called “the promise of my Father” Luke 24:49. We are required to wait until we can by FAITH claim and RECEIVE the promised Spirit of God to enable us to carry out His service.
