Jairus's daughter, Pt 1KICS Studies - Children in the Gospels who met the Lord Jesus · part 11 of 15Rev. Ivan Foster · Tue Nov 19, 2024Mark 5:22-24,5:35-43. · Youth

This little girl, whose name we don’t know, was just twelve when she met the Lord. We are told
this in verse 42. “She was of the age of twelve years.” Strangely enough, 12 years features in
another place in this chapter. “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,”
Mark 5:25.

This lady had just started to get sick at the time the little girl was born and she was healed at the
time the little girl dies!

She was a woman of faith! Faith place a central role in the lady’s healing. “When she had heard
of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but
his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt
in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that
virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?”
Mark 5:27-29.

In like manner faith played a part in the raising the little girl. How vital is faith, “But without faith it
is impossible to please” God! - Hebrews 11:6.

1. BUT IT WAS THE FAITH OF HER FATHER THAT BROUGHT HEALING TO HER!!

“My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that
she may be healed; and she shall live,” verse 23.

How many boys and girls are in heaven because mother of father or both prayed for them? Notice what it says. “He fell at his feet, and besought him greatly” verses 22-23.

I have no doubt that when his little daughter fell sick he went to the doctor for help! But they
couldn’t help. It was the same with the lady who was healed by the Lord.

“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things
of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew
worse,” Mark 5:25-26.

Boys and girls, there is a limit to what the best doctors can do for us! It is to the Lord we must look for
everything, including our health. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God,” the health of our body will show in our face! Psalm 42:11.

We will return to this passage next week, in the will of God.
