An age-old battle and its outcome, Pt 5KICS Studies - Some of my Favorite Psalms · part 9 of 69Rev. Ivan Foster · YouthPsalm 2:4-6 · Thu Feb 3, 2022

Having consider that that fact that the Lord is SITTING unperturbed by man’s rebellion, note :

GOD SPEAKING

1. A future day of judgment is referred to here. Then. It is the day when God shall enter into controversy with those who have defied Him, Jude 14-15.

There have been many confederacies formed in the past but none that have been crushed as we see here this one is to be crushed.

It is this that is picture for us in Ps 46:6-11 and in Rev 6:15-17.  “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

Men will feel the ‘Sword of His mouth’, 2 Thess 2:8; Rev 19:15, 21.

2. This signifieds a change in the tone of God’s voice! He will then ‘speak unto them in his wrath’. Presently, the Lord is speaking to men in mercy. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved,” John 3:17.

3. Men have been vexed by the Word of God spoken in mercy. “Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?” Matthew 15:12.

What when it is spoken in wrath? “He shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked,” Isaiah 11:4. Exodus 15:9-11.

God’s Word, the breath of His lips, is His instrument to defeat His enemies.
