We continue our observations on this parable.
How things are going to change in eternity for the sinner and for the child of God!
How gladly the rich man would have received help from Lazarus. During has life he would not have touched Lazarus with a yard brush! Now he would gladly have him touch his tongue!
He who had enjoyed his 'good things' now would be glad of a drop-off water! Verse 24.
Even that is denied to sinners in hell. There is NO RELIEF in hell. It is a place of 'torment', verse 24.
In contrast 'Lazarus' is comforted. Verse 25. He who had been 'laid' at the rich man's gate is lying in the bosom of the Lord.
There is no escape from hell. Verse 26. Please note what Paul said: 1 say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh," Rom 9:1-3.
How strong the desire to see sinners saved!
But no one in heaven could go to offer help to those in hell and certainly those in hell cannot move to heaven!!
