PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost," Jude 1:20. (Preached in Kilskeery FPC. Only the first part of the message was preached. Rev Foster hopes (DV) to return to this subject on November 30th) * Prayer is vital to the spiritual wellbeing of the Christian yet how unskilled we are in this heavenly art! * Much that we call prayer we know to be dissatisfying and unsuccessful. * Basically, prayer can only be what it ought to be when it is as our text describes it. * True prayer is the motion of the life of God within our souls. "But the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us," Roms 8:26. * Prayer is the greatest evidence of regeneration by the Spirit. * True prayer is a meeting of the soul with God in glorious fellowship.* The Holy Ghost is the author of prayer. We cannot pray without Him. In prayer we have access by one Spirit unto the Father, Eph 2:18. As Christ is the door into God's presence and faith is the key by which the door is opened so the Holy Spirit is the One by Whom we are enabled to turn that key and open the door and gain access.
