The danger of murmuring. (Preached by Rev Ivan Foster at Kilskeery FP Youth Fellowship) "And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration," Acts 6:1. The power of God was at work in Jerusalem. Acts 2:41, 47; 4:4; 5:14, 28. As our text says, "the number of the disciples was multiplied." There is a wonderful parallel here, a foreshadowing of what will happen in Jerusalem when the Lord Jesus comes again. Indeed, every revival is a rehearsal of the return of Christ in power and great glory. In Isaiah 2:1-4, we have something of the events which will take place in that great day in Jerusalem. The grace that will then be manifested amongst men can be seen to be at work in Jerusalem in the days of the Apostles. Consider Acts 2:44-47 and 4:33-37. In a future day, such Christian congeniality as was seen amongst those early converts will be manifested on a much greater scale. "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea," Habakkuk 2:14. (See also Isaiah 11:9.) But please note that our text tells us that: I. EVEN IN THE VERY BEST OF CHURCHES SIN WILL BE FOUND This was already seen in the incident with Ananias, with Sapphira, 5:1-11. Even that judgment did not register with everyone. TO BE CONTINUED.
