Since the beginning of the new school year in September 2015, Rev Foster has been asked to speak at two morning assembly meetings each week. His theme for 2015-16 is DV, "Pictures of Christ in the Bible." Fifth Picture of Christ Genesis 22:1-14 Isaac sacrificed and the ram caught by its horns in a thicket. Approximately 500 years have passed since the flood. God has called Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees, Gen 12:1. Ur of the Chaldees was in the land of Babylon or modern day Iraq. From there he was called of God to go forth not knowing where the Lord would lead him. "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went," Hebrews 11:8. He came to that land which today is called Israel. This is the land God promised to Abraham and his descendants. After quite an interval, the son promised by the Lord is given and Isaac is born. The incident we are looking at took place when Isaac is in his late teens or early twenties. He was old enough to carry a heavy load of wood, verse 6. This is very significant in the light of what takes place. There is a two-fold likeness to the Lord Jesus in this story. First of all there is Isaac and then there is the ram caught by its horns in a thicket.
