Two things brought this man into the presence of Christ and for both he will be eternally grateful. The first was his sickness and the second was his friends. There is illustrated for us here the Lord's ability to grant to sinners more than they ever expected. He came seeking physical healing and would have gone home overjoyed had he received that alone. But as well as his health being restored his sins were forgiven. The first blessing brough him much immediate and temporary relief. The second blessing he is enjoying still today!
