Whiter than the snowGod reasons with sinnersRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMIsaiah 1:18 · Sun Oct 23, 2005
My subject was suggested by a statement made by the priest, Alec Reid, when speaking of the IRA and its links with the Northern Bank robbery. "On that issue their leadership has denied it. I believe absolutely they had no truck to do with it," he said. However, in the programme "Hearts and Minds" broadcast on Thursday 18th Oct, he said he did not accept the IRA was a criminal organisation. He is linked in the Belfast Newsletter with the statement that the IRA are as white as snow! That statement reveals to us just how faulty is the rule by which Rome evaluates sin. Taken along with his likening of the treatment of Roman Catholics in Northern Ireland by the Protestant people to that of the treatment of the Jewish people by the Nazis, it is an open justification of the murder of Protestants by the IRA. It underscores how far removed is Rome from the Bible and the God of the Bible. Out text tells us how sinful men may become as "white as snow." Only those who have experienced that saving grace which is set forth in this verse may speak of being "white as snow" in God's eyes.
